We went searching for the most straight forward building blocks we could find, and we ended up at the Keva Planks booth at the Toy Fair in NYC. Keva Planks are very similar to Kapla Planks, but are made in the USA and are not dyed or stained, but maintain their original maple wood color. What struck us was the high quality of these wooden pieces. Keva planks are made with 100% grown in the USA pure maple wood and are all perfectly uniform, straight, very hard, and have clean edges. See this image for a photo of the uniformity of the pieces:
What's more, Keva Planks are made in the USA, so we can feel good about supporting American jobs while we provide a good construction toy for our kids.
Keva Planks come in a sturdy and well designed cardboard box, and include a detailed booklet visually displaying a number of projects you can construct using Keva Planks. We are proud to offer this line and feel good about the quality and utility of this basic construction toy.
This is Keva's smallest set. We consider it to be a starter set. All of the games in the KEVA Guide book can be played with 100 planks.

Keva Planks are perfectly cut , identical construction blocks that stack with surprising stability. Narrow towers can reach all the way to the ceiling. This incredible stability is achieved by cutting the planks with great precision. Any variability between planks would cause wobbly structures.
While virtually all of our competition is importing, we are proud to buck the trend. Most people in the toy industry assume that importing is the only way to survive. We have worked very hard and creatively to keep our business in the USA. We help to conserve our renewable resources by using fine hardwood maple that is leftover from the cabinet and molding industry. This is what enables us to provide such beautiful wood at a reasonable price. We include a variety of natural color variations so that you can design with the color shades if you choose. You will find the natural beauty of maple creates genuinely beautiful structures.
Games to Play with Keva Planks
KEVAtree
For 2 or more players.
Grow a tree before your eyes. If you have a steady hand and perfect balance, you
can be the one to yell, T-i-m-b-e-r !
A quick and simple game.First, create a flat base for the tree trunk by laying a plank flat on the floor or table.Next make the tree trunk by placing three planks together and standing them upright on the base plank. You now have a square trunk.Begin the game by laying a plank flat across the top to the trunk.Players take turns laying planks flat to build up the height of the tree.Whoever is the last to add a plank and make the tree fall, loses. The winner yells, T-i-m-b-e-r! as the tree tumbles to the ground.
Adjust the difficulty of the game by making the trunk smaller (1 or 2 planks) or larger by spreading 2 planks further apart and angling them toward each other.
KEVAtalk
The verbal challenge Game. Talk your way out of this one! The KEVA talker builds a simple structure and describes each step carefully to the other players who cannot see the master structure. Everyone tries to make the same structure but it rarely turns out the way you expect. A fun way to hone communication skills. Learn variations in the KEVA Guide Book.
KEVAmaze
A strategy game for two. Work your way across the Maze but beware. Your devious opponent has some obstacles in mind that will cause a change of plans but so do you
5-15 minutes. See the KEVA Guide Book for details.
